UCSF Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia Simulator Course

The American Board of Medical Specialties requires the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) to include practice performance assessment and improvement in Part IV of the Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA®). The ABA recognizes simulation training as an innovative approach to assess a physician’s clinical and teamwork skills in managing critical events and included it in the Part IV Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA® ) requirements.
The UCSF Department of Anesthesia Simulation Center is endorsed by the American Society of Anesthesiologists for meeting the standards required for conducting ABA MOCA simulation courses. This center offers eight hour, single day courses for four participants. Each participant will play active roles in all four scenarios, including one scenario as the primary anesthesiologist and one as the secondary anesthesiologist. Each scenario is recorded with sound and video, which is used to guide the debriefing conference that follows.
The cost of the course is $1,600 (parking and light breakfast are included). Please see our course listings below for available dates. In order to confirm your reservation, your payment must be received by one month prior to the course date. Please print out our brochure and mail payment by check with the registration form, or click on your preferred date below to pay by credit card.
Please note that reservations are confirmed on a first-come, first-serve basis, and that cancellations must be received in writing at least ten days before the course, as a $50 late cancellation fee will apply. If a simulation session must be cancelled by UCSF for any reason, you will receive a full refund or, dependent on space, may move into an alternate session.
